Make your nonfiction section easier to navigate and browse with these nonfiction Dewey library signs made for smaller sign holders, like book stops, shelf markers, and upcycled VHS video cases!

These editable, printable library signs are 70% thinner than the original Whole Number Dewey Nonfiction Signs, so you can add them without shifting your shelves or removing books. They are designed for any library that uses the Dewey Decimal Classification system to organize their collection, and they work best in elementary school libraries.

These 1.2″ wide signs sit on the shelf alongside the books to show where the next nonfiction section begins. They can fit on commercially-sold book stops and shelf markers, as well as in upcycled clear, plastic VHS video cases as the sign holders. You can also cover the signs in a mylar dust jacket and put them on unused or weeded chapter books.

The topics are listed below, and they are fairly USA-centric. I’ve included separate signs for Canada, Mexico & Central America, and Australia in the 900’s section, but other countries are covered at the continent level.

This product has 106 slides / pages, and it includes:

  • 90 editable Dewey 100’s signs and Dewey popular topic signs, as listed below
    • 8.5″ x 11″ letter paper size
      • 1 sign per page for wrapping around books or VHS video cases – 90 page / slides
      • 7 signs per page for using the “spines only” version – 13 pages / slides
    • Each full-size sign measures 7.5″ x 10″ which will slide into a standard VHS case with a 1.2″ spine.
    • You can also print only the 1.2″ spines to add to book-stops or shelf markers sold by Demco or The Library Store.
    • Easy-to-print PDF files are also included.
  • Blank templates to edit and create your own signs – 2 pages / slides
  • All text, fonts, and colors are editable in Microsoft PowerPoint .pptx file to fit your collection or match your school colors / library branding. You can change the background color and/or text color with just a few clicks!
  • Supplies list and teacher notes (included in preview) with links for where to purchase book-stops, shelf markers, and other sign holders that are compatible with these signs if you don’t have any VHS cases to upcycle
  • Photos to show how to use the signs on library shelves (included in preview)
  • How-to video tutorials for quickly and easily changing the colors of the text and signs
