Want to help your students learn about Newbery Medal and Honor winning books in your school library? This Newbery Scavenger Hunt provides 119 cards with all honorees from 2000 to 2026!
Students will work together to find these books on your shelves or in your online catalog.
This helpful product includes:
- 119 cards with all of the Newbery Medal winners and Newbery Honor books from 2000 to 2026. (4 per letter-sized paper, 30 pages, PDF only)
- Recording sheets or exit tickets (3 pages, PDF only)
- Full page version (1 page)
- Half page versions (2 pages)
- 2 complete library lesson plans, for collaborative work with a partner, sharing with the whole group, and extensions (3 pages, PDF only)
- Newbery Award information and why the books we love don’t always win (1 page, PDF only)
- Extension activities for longer or additional library classes (1 page, PDF only)
You don’t have to have each of these titles in your library to use this scavenger hunt. Just make doubles of those that you DO have, and use this list to inform your collection development. Or have students use these cards to search the online catalog.
The competition of searching for answers makes this an engaging activity for our students! Your library learners will practice their collaboration skills as they work together to find the books and report back to the whole group.
