Remember all those magazine quizzes we took as teens? This reading personality test is styled after those quizzes. This is my students’ favorite fun reading activity!

This 2022 updated version is designed to help students in 3rd through 6th grades identify which reading genres are best for them. Multiple genre recommendations are given for each genre personality.

Technology Requirements: computer, projector and screen or wall, copier, paper, Google Classroom if using the digital version

This engaging lesson has 114 pages / slides, and it includes:

  • 28-slide Digital Reading Genre Personality Quiz / Test Presentation – Walks students through questions about their own personalities, likes, dislikes, and preferences
    • All quiz answers are editable in Microsoft PowerPoint and Google Slides.
    • Includes scoring directions and all 12 Genre Personality profiles (not editable)
    • You are able to edit the recommended genres to match what your library calls them (or add/delete recommendations).
    • No prep is needed other than printing the quiz for students to follow along, if desired.
    • Includes full directions for teacher and students
    • The Google Slides version is interactive.
  • Printable Reading Genre Quiz / Test – Students follow along with the presentation and write their answers on the printable quiz.

    • Each Personality includes book recommendations for early-elementary (Grades K-2) and upper-elementary (Grades 3-6). This quiz is NOT RECOMMENDED for students younger than 3rd grade; however, book recommendations for kindergarten through 2nd grade are included by request.
