Want to help your students find great chapter books to read? This scavenger hunt uses QR code technology and movement to engage your library learners! Your third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade students will love this reading activity as a library lesson and as library centers with no prep for you, just print and go!
This 53-page unit is a printable PDF (not editable) and includes:
- QR code scavenger hunt cards for 100 different fiction books
- The same 84 cards are repeated for F and FIC call numbers
- 3 pages of instructions for how to use this products in library lessons and library centers
- Questions to copy on back of scavenger hunt cards, for student activities if the book is not available on your shelf
- Full page exit ticket
- 2 different half page exit tickets
You do NOT have to have each of these titles in your library to use this scavenger hunt. After watching the book trailer video, students can use the questions on the back to find a related book that you DO have with the same author, series, genre or subject. This will give your students practice in using your online library catalog.
The QR codes link to book trailers in Video.link (formerly known as Safe YouTube), with no ads or “related videos.” Use your phone to scan the QR code on the scavenger hunt card on the product cover, and you’ll see how it works!
Students can work on their own or in teams. The competition of searching for answers makes this an engaging activity for our students. Working on teams helps them practice collaboration, too.
Exit tickets provide accountability and help students make plans for future reading.
