Fifth grade students will excitedly set goals for their upcoming year by learning about different series available in the library. After they identify artifacts they would pack in their suitcase, they’ll think about why. This interactive activity prepares them to think about their own perceptions and how books can shift those by immersing them in the setting, events, and characters.
The author, Tracy from Vr2l Tch, likes using this activity on the first day of school. It can also be used any time you introduce the concept of Books As Sliding Doors to students.
