Elementary Media Literacy Selfie Project

Teach primary students how to take clear pictures with purpose!

This lesson was designed to tap into the egocentric nature of primary-aged students, while at the same time teaching media skills like camera use and control. In addition, students are developing social emotional skills in the areas of self reflection and self-love.

This lesson has 51 total pages and includes:

• ISTE Standards based lesson plan with opportunities for student choice, inquiry, and critical thinking.
• I Love My Selfie Word Splash and Best Part of Me Word Splash for students to choose words that they think describe them.
  • Language included is part of IB PYP and can be used within any academic theme.
• I Love My Selfie & Best Part of Me Cut and Paste Activity where students cut out the words that they think describe them and paste them on the sheet.
  • This is a great option for students to draw their selfie before taking a photo; perfect for planning!
