This Alphabet Storytime Bundle includes 26 engaging library lessons for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grade 1—one storytime for every letter A–Z!
Designed especially for elementary school libraries, these ready-to-use alphabet lessons combine library skills, read-alouds, vocabulary, animals, American Sign Language, nursery rhymes, idioms, trivia, discussion activities, and more into a predictable weekly storytime routine young students love.
Each letter includes enough content for one 50-minute library lesson or two 25-minute lessons, making the bundle flexible for different library schedules. If you see classes weekly, these 26 Alphabet Storytimes can provide lesson content for much of the school year!
Each of the 26 Alphabet Storytimes include:
- Lesson Presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint + Google Slides
- All body text is editable; you choose which slides you want to use.
- Part 1 – Storytime and class discussion slides.
- Part 2 – Scrolling presentation slides that are great for extending storytime lessons or scrolling in the library during checkout and downtimes.
- These presentations are designed to complement a read-aloud of your choice. The actual storybook or recorded read-aloud is not included due to copyright restrictions.
- Printable search-and-find scavenger hunt
- Students “hunt” for images and information in the “scrolling slides” part of the presentation. This gives students something to focus on during library checkout and downtime.
- List of 15 recommended picture books to accompany the lesson
- The list is great to hand out to parents, teachers, and students looking for related books.
- Detailed, pre-filled Library lesson plan in editable PowerPoint and PDF formats, aligned to:
- AASL National School Library Standards for Learners,

Storytime slides include:
Approximately 25 minutes – Part 1 is the librarian- or teacher-guided portion of the lesson. Each presentation walks you through an engaging discussion of the week’s letter before your read-aloud. Depending on the letter, students may explore:
- Nursery rhymes and songs
- American Sign Language for the letter and an additional word
- Student names beginning with the letter
- Words beginning with the featured letter
- 2–5 library skills, terms, or concepts
- Animals
- Colors
- Months and seasons
- Sports
- Foods
- Weather words
- Careers
- Idioms
- Vocabulary
- Fun facts and trivia
- Would You Rather? and This or That? questions
- Suggested short video links
- Real photographs and colorful illustrations
There are intentionally lots of slides to choose from! You do not need to use every slide with every class. Pick and choose, rearrange slides, or use different slides with different grade levels.
At the end of Part 1, pause the presentation for your own read-aloud.
Scrolling slides include:
Part 2 is designed to work beautifully with library checkout. After the story, students can check out library books. While students are checking out—or after they finish—set the presentation to scroll automatically on your screen.
Students complete the included search-and-find scavenger hunt, looking for and coloring images they saw throughout the Alphabet Storytime presentation.
This gives students something purposeful to do during checkout while reinforcing the week’s featured letter.
Recommended Read-alouds:
Every letter includes an editable Recommended Reads list with 15 carefully selected book titles for PreK, Kindergarten, and Grade 1. Use the lists to:
- Choose a read-aloud to accompany the lesson
- Share book recommendations with classroom teachers
- Print the list on the back of the scavenger hunt and send it home to families
Designed for Flexible Library Schedules
Have 45–50 minutes? Teach Parts 1 and 2 together as one complete library lesson.
Have 20–25 minutes? Teach Part 1 and Part 2 separately.
The consistent structure gives young students a familiar storytime routine while each new letter introduces different animals, library concepts, vocabulary, facts, activities, and surprises.
